STEINBRECHER CUP KICKS OFF JUNE 6 IN NEW HAMPSHIRE FOR FIRST TIME
ATLANTA ( 5/2025) – The prestigious Steinbrecher Cup, a competition to crown the men’s national adult amateur champion, run by U.S. Soccer’s Adult Council, will be held for the first time in New Hampshire this June. Now in its 12th year, the 2025 edition will take place at Manchester Memorial High School Stadium, showcasing four elite amateur clubs from across the country.
The semifinals are set for Friday, June 6, with two back-to-back matchups promising high-stakes action:
· 5:00 PM – El Farolito (San Francisco) vs. West Chester United (Pennsylvania)
· 7:30 PM – Houston Regals (Houston) vs. Seacoast Phantoms (New Hampshire)
The championship final will be played on Sunday, June 8 at 1:00 PM.
“I am excited to hold this event in New Hampshire in partnership with the Seacoast Phantoms, said John Motta, U.S. Soccer’s Adult Council Chair. “The Phantoms, the USL 2 National Champions, were founded in 1995 as a Division 3 Professional team in the old USISL. I was actually the first owner of this team, so it’s with great pride to see them in this prestigious tournament. We have the best adult amateur teams in the country vying for the Steinbrecher Cup and Hank Steinbrecher was a dear friend so hosting this event to honor him is very special to me.”
Each participating team enters the tournament as a reigning national amateur champion:
· El Farolito – 2024 National Premier League National Champions
· West Chester United – Defending 2023 Steinbrecher Cup Champions
· Houston Regals – 2025 USSSA National Champions
· Seacoast Phantoms – 2024 USL National Amateur Champions
Founded in 2013, the Steinbrecher Cup was established to unite the champions of U.S. men’s amateur leagues in a single-elimination tournament to determine a champion. Past editions have been held in Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Tennessee — but 2025 marks the first time any national soccer championship has been hosted in New Hampshire.
The Steinbrecher Cup honors former U.S. Soccer Secretary General and Werner Fricker Builder Award winner Hank Steinbrecher. Steinbrecher, who passed away this year, oversaw the 1994 FIFA Men’s World Cup, the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was instrumental in the birth of Major League Soccer.
Tickets for the Steinbrecher Cup are just $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for youth and can be purchased at the gate. -ussoccer.com-
