Playoffs
New Hampshire Soccer League
Best of luck on progressing into the NHSL playoffs!!! We are excited for a great weekend of soccer for all teams that advanced. Below is a lot of information regarding playoffs, so please read carefully. If your team has moved on to the playoffs and will not be able participate, please let us know ASAP so that we do not have a team show up to play and not have an opponent.
Teams Advancing and Standings Determinations:
Please see playoff rules in the NHSL rules and policies section for tiebreakers.
Certain Divisions have a team playing an extra match more than all other division teams due to team numbers and/or matches so that every team got a minimum seven (7) matches. In these divisions certain matches for the team playing an extra match will not count for the team (with the extra game) towards standings. To ensure matches for all, if a team playing the extra match forfeits or does not play the match, it will be reviewed for an overall points deduction in standings. Standings will be adjusted to reflect the changes for the matches excluded immediately following the last match of the season. Those matches that will not count for the team with the extra match (team bolded) but will count for their opponent are:
BU11 D1/2 – ISC v. Hollis Brookline – Match 1201
BU11 Coastal Premiership – Oyster River United v. Portsmouth – Match 1356
BU12 D1/2 – Bedford v. Exeter – Match 1416
BU12 Coastal Premiership – Portsmouth v. Garrison City FC – Match 1587
BU12 Coastal Championship – Exeter v. North Hampton – Match 1627
BU13 D2/3 – Warriors FC v. Bedford – Match 1690
BU13 D3/4 – Revolution United v. Bow SC – Match 1716
BU13 Coastal Championship – Exeter v. Oyster River United – Match 1769
BU14 East – Oyster River United v. Newmarket – Match 1854
BU14 West – Lightning v. Bow SC – Match 1858
BU15 West – Merrimack v. Pelham – Match 1958
GU11 D1 – Oyster River United v. Merrimack – Match 289
GU11 D2 East – Derry v. Windham – Match 344

The Competition Committee deliberated and landed on a State Division for certain age groups – sometimes with three sub-divisions with cross-over playoffs. These State divisions were balanced as best as possible considering competitive balance, requests, and geographical locations. In these Divisions, depending on the number of teams advancing there are Quarter Final matches in addition to traditional semi-final and final matches. These divisions were constructed with best interests of players/teams in mind and with an approach to trial a new way to approach division construction in a small sample size. This is a different approach from prior years as the league tries to balance the geographic requests and competitive balance at certain age groups based on registrations. We appreciate that this is a change and different for many and may have led to challenges, will lead to an extra playoff match (to mirror a tournament weekend), and in some cases fewer playoff teams. Thank you for your participation and patience in division formations – depending on outcomes the league is considering a return to a standard Flight division placement in future seasons. Thank you for all you do.
